Lyon falls in Prague and jeopardizes Champions hopes

Lyon loses away to Sparta Prague (1-2) in the first leg after conceding two goals in six minutes, with Tolisso missing a penalty.

Olympique Lyonnais suffered an unexpected defeat at Sparta Prague in the first leg of the Champions League third qualifying round. The French side had paradoxically gone into the break ahead despite being dominated for large stretches.

Everything turned in the space of six minutes after the hour mark. Left-back Matej Rynes leveled the match in the 63rd minute, and shortly after Corentin Tolisso squandered a golden opportunity from the penalty spot, blazing over the bar. Just two minutes later, Rynes provided the assist for John Mercado to seal the 2-1 victory, according to *L'Équipe*.

Paulo Fonseca's side must overturn the tie at home if they hope to progress to the next round and keep their Champions League dreams alive.
