Madjo lights up his Aston Villa debut against PSG

Brian Madjo enjoyed a dream night in his official debut for Aston Villa. The 17-year-old English forward, signed in January by the Birmingham club after just five appearances in Ligue 1 with Metz, scored against PSG in the European Super Cup held in Salzburg, though his side lost 2-1.

FIFA had blocked the youngster for an extended period, deeming his transfer a breach of international minor transfer regulations. With that ban still fresh, Madjo became the youngest ever goalscorer in European Super Cup history—17 years and 212 days—after overpowering Willian Pacho and finishing left-footed in the 45th minute. His goal pulled his team back into it from 0-1 down.

Beyond the goal, according to L'Équipe, Madjo delivered a commanding display. The former Metz player hadn't featured since December 7, yet showed class with a shot off the post and a clever chest assist for Emiliano Buendia. A storybook debut for a player who was already the youngest to appear in Ligue 1 in Metz colors.
