Kaneryd suffers ACL injury at Lyon just weeks after arriving

Just a month into her time at Lyon, Swedish winger Johanna Rytting Kaneryd has been dealt a blow. According to L'Équipe, the French club announced that the player suffered an anterior cruciate ligament rupture that will keep her sidelined for several months.

Kaneryd, who signed with the Lyonnaises until 2029, was one of the standout signings of the summer transfer window. In three seasons at Chelsea, she made 115 appearances and scored 12 goals, winning three English leagues (2023, 2024, 2025) and two FA Cups (2023, 2025). She will now undergo surgery to recover from the injury that comes at the worst possible time for both the player and Lyon's project.
