Manchester United eyes Bayern's Min-jae Kim

United maintains interest in Bayern's South Korean centre-back, though the player prefers to stay in Munich and his departure is complicated.

Manchester United continues exploring defensive options and has set its sights on Min-jae Kim, centre-back at Bayern Munich. According to Bild, the Red Devils' interest in the 29-year-old South Korean international persists, though securing his signing requires overcoming several obstacles.

A centre-back with pedigree

Kim is a defender with experience in Europe's top competitions, and his profile fits what Manchester United is looking for to strengthen a defence that wants to take a step forward under Michael Carrick's leadership. His experience and solidity make him attractive to Old Trafford.

The South Korean is under contract with the Bavarians until June 2028 and, according to the same source, his intention is to stay at Bayern. Besides, he is not an undisputed starter in Vincent Kompany's defence: he shares the position with Dayot Upamecano and Jonathan Tah, who enjoy more prominence in the line-ups.

The Bavarian barrier

The main difficulty for United will be convincing both the player and, especially, Bayern to facilitate his departure. At 29 years old, Kim is at an important moment in his career, and for now the German club does not seem willing to let him go easily.
