Mangala joins Getafe on loan to replace injured Uche

Orel Mangala is the latest arrival at Getafe, joining on loan from Olympique de Lyon until the end of the season, according to Mundo Deportivo. The 28-year-old Belgian midfielder made 14 official appearances for Lyon last campaign.

The transfer comes as a response to the serious injury suffered by Christansus Uche, who will miss the entire season after a heavy challenge in a friendly against Monaco. Mangala, with 23 international caps for Belgium, brings experience and physical presence in midfield recovery—qualities that align with José Bordalás' demands, especially with Conference League football ahead.

The midfielder was developed in the academies of Anderlecht and Borussia Dortmund before spells at Stuttgart, Nottingham Forest, and Lyon. "Getafe welcomes Orel and wishes him the very best in this new stage as an azulón," the club stated in its official announcement.
