Manzambi ruled out of European Super Cup with knee injury

Johan Manzambi will miss the European Super Cup between Aston Villa and the PSG on August 12 in Salzburg. The Swiss attacking midfielder is recovering from a knee injury sustained before the World Cup round-of-16 against Colombia, according to The Athletic via L'Équipe.

The 20-year-old, signed by the English club for €60 million from Freiburg after an impressive World Cup debut (3 goals and 2 assists), continues his rehabilitation in Spain under specialist Jurdan Mendigucha's supervision. The club has not set a return date, but his absence is expected to last several more weeks.

Aston Villa faces Bayern Munich this Friday in a final warm-up before the Super Cup. Unai Emery's side will begin their 2026-27 Premier League campaign with an away trip to Brighton on August 23, likely still without their record signing.
