📷 L'ÉquipeMcCourt pumps €120M into Marseille to cover losses
The American owner of OM has invested 120 million euros during 2024 to balance the club's accounts.
Olympique de Marseille is going through a period of financial austerity, but that hasn't stopped owner Frank McCourt from continuing to shore up the club's finances. According to L'Équipe, the American businessman has injected €120 million throughout this year to offset accumulated losses.
The figure has materialized in two tranches: an initial contribution of €50 million in February and a second of €70 million in July, according to the French media's information. McCourt's entourage confirmed the total investment volume but preferred not to elaborate on the timing of the distribution.
This new injection significantly increases the investment effort by the OM owner. Just a year ago, McCourt had already contributed €94.5 million, and estimated having invested approximately €640 million between 2016 and 2025. Despite these resources, Marseille remains the only team in the Ligue 1 Big 5 without making significant signings this season.
