Memphis Depay leaves Corinthians due to financial reasons

Memphis Depay is back on the transfer market after failing to reach a renewal agreement with Corinthians. The Brazilian club decided not to extend the deal for the 32-year-old Dutch forward, who had joined from Olympique Lyon, according to L'Équipe.

Corinthians justified their decision in an official statement: «This decision was made exclusively regarding the financial health of our institution, which requires strict balance and responsible management of available resources». The club acknowledged this was a difficult but necessary decision for the club's future.

The team expressed their gratitude to Depay and his representatives for their efforts during negotiations. The Dutch winger has not yet publicly commented on his next destination and remains available for any interested clubs.
