Molina close to joining Roma for €13 million

Nahuel Molina's departure from Atlético Madrid is almost complete. According to Mundo Deportivo, the 28-year-old right-back and AS Roma have struck a deal worth €13 million fixed plus €4 million in variables, after the Madrid side rejected Roma's initial offer of around €10 million.

Molina only needs to wrap up contract details with the Italians to seal his transfer in the coming hours. The Argentine hasn't been a regular starter under Simeone this season, which prompted the club's management to seek his exit, though he remains an important player for Argentina after playing in the Qatar World Cup final.

His departure will also ease tensions at the Metropolitano. The club's supporters have never fully forgiven him for his aggression toward Rodri Hernández after the World Cup final, and booed him during last season's squad presentation. Other clubs including Juventus, Inter and Everton had also shown interest in the player.
