📷 L'ÉquipeMonaco beats Liverpool and clarifies their striking options
Monaco defeat Liverpool 3-2 in a warm-up match with Biereth, Abline and Brunner impressing ten days before the season kicks off.
AS Monaco pulled off a 3-2 upset at Anfield in their fifth pre-season friendly, as reported by L'Équipe. Despite falling 2-0 behind, the Monegasques fought back through goals from Alexandre Golovine (44') and Paris Brunner (88'), who now has five pre-season goals to his name.
Defensive display was patchy, particularly for Florian Wirtz's second goal after a Monaco error (29'). However, the back line pairing of Sadibou Sané and Eric Dier emerged as Filipe Luis's preferred option over rivals Thilo Kehrer and Christian Mawissa.
Upfront, the pecking order is becoming clearer: Matthis Abline and Mika Biereth have secured consecutive starts, whilst Paris Brunner impresses off the bench each outing. Biereth, who hadn't scored since February, got on the scoresheet (2-2, 56'), while Ansu Fati remains absent from warm-up action. Monaco face Coventry on Friday in their final dress rehearsal before the Conference League playoff on 20 August.
