Monzón suffers minor ankle sprain
Zaragoza midfielder picked up a knock in a friendly against Villarreal B and will be sidelined for up to two weeks.
Diego Monzón underwent medical tests after the friendly against Villarreal B ended with ankle problems. According to Sport, scans confirmed a sprain of the lateral ligament in his right ankle, though the injury is minor.
The Ecuadorian-Spanish midfielder should not be sidelined for more than two weeks. He has already begun rehabilitation and did not train with the squad on Wednesday at the training ground, though his absence will be temporary.
A preseason standout
Monzón is contracted to the Aragón reserve team, but has been one of the surprise packages of preseason under Ibai Gómez's watch. His contribution has impressed so much that the Basque coach has decided he will continue training regularly with the first team throughout the season, beyond his appearances with the reserves.
