Morcillo joins Elche from Atlético in €1.2m deal

Javi Morcillo will travel to Alicante tomorrow to complete his move to Elche, according to Mundo Deportivo. The deal is worth €1.2 million for 50% of the player's economic rights, with Morcillo signing a contract through 2031 with the Alicante-based side.

The midfielder chose Elche from several competing offers. Mundo Deportivo reports that Levante, Anderlecht and Famalicão also submitted proposals, but Morcillo opted for the First Division club. He joined Atlético last season from Sabadell for €150,000 and made 29 appearances overall, including five outings with the first team in the closing weeks of the campaign.

Morcillo's departure is part of Atlético Madrid's broader clearout strategy to raise funds for their summer targets. The club is offloading players including Molina to Roma, Ruggeri to Aston Villa, and Almada, who is weighing offers from River Plate and Flamengo.
