Nájera suffers ACL rupture in second Lugo appearance

Mario Nájera has suffered a serious knee injury just two matches into his Lugo career. The midfielder, who recently left Deportivo after signing with the Galician club until 2028, tore his anterior cruciate ligament during a friendly against Oviedo Vetusta (0-2), according to *Sport*.

The diagnosis is a severe blow: Nájera will require surgery in the coming days and is ruled out for the remainder of the season. Lugo have not provided a recovery timeline, as his return will depend on how the operation progresses. A similar injury recently struck the club's academy with Jairo Noriega.

This setback arrives just as the ex-Deportivo prospect seemed to find stability. After his contract termination with the Galician side, he accepted Lugo's offer—a club with major aspirations in Primera RFEF under manager Borja Fernández—seeking a step up after aging out of the U-23 category.
