Newcastle appoint Jaissle as new head coach

Newcastle have officially confirmed the appointment of Matthias Jaissle as their new head coach following Eddie Howe's departure, as reported by Sky Sports. The German boss has signed a four-year contract with the Magpies.

The Premier League club paid £9.5m (€11m) in compensation to Saudi Arabian outfit Al Ahli, where Jaissle delivered back-to-back Asian Champions League titles over the past two years. He has already linked up with his new squad this weekend.

Jaissle expressed his excitement about the opportunity: "When Newcastle United comes your way, you take notice. The ambition of the club, the vision for the future and the opportunity ahead made this an incredibly compelling place to be." His first match in charge will be a pre-season friendly against Valencia at the Mestalla next Saturday.
