Ngoumou arrives as Nice bolsters attack with Wahi interest

Nice completes the signing of Nathan Ngoumou from Borussia Mönchengladbach while pursuing the return of Elye Wahi.

Nice accelerates its transfer window after weeks of stalling, confirming the arrival of Nathan Ngoumou. The 26-year-old Cameroonian striker joins from Borussia Mönchengladbach, where he spent four seasons before starting his career at Toulouse, according to L'Équipe.

Ngoumou will undergo his medical on Monday. He arrives on a free transfer, though the German club secured 10% of any future resale. The forward returns after a blank season sidelined by an Achilles tendon rupture in April 2025.

Firepower shortage

The signing addresses an urgent need in attack for the Aiglons. Kevin Carlos left on loan to Cagliari, Terem Moffi remains with the elite group, and the striking duties currently fall to Víctor Orakpo and Zoumana Diallo, who perform adequately in preseason but lack guaranteed staying power. Nice's hierarchy is also pursuing the return of Elye Wahi, which would round out their offensive rebuild following recent acquisition Gauthier Hein.
