📷 MARCANobel Mendy becomes Rayo's record transfer sale
The Senegalese centre-back joins Hull City for €25 million plus variables, breaking the club's transfer record.
Nobel Mendy is now officially a Hull City player after completing what MARCA reports as Rayo Vallecano's biggest ever transfer sale. The Senegalese defender heads to the Premier League following a record move for the Madrid club.
The deal is worth €25 million plus a 12.5% sell-on clause on any future transfer. Real Betis will pocket €5 million from the sale due to a previous sell-on clause. Mendy breaks the previous record held by Pep Chavarría, who left for €21 million plus €3 million in add-ons.
Mendy arrived at Rayo on loan last season, making 28 appearances and scoring twice. The club exercised its €3.5 million purchase option to make the move permanent. With Mendy's departure, Rayo are left with five centre-backs: Lejeune, Kumbulla, Luiz Felipe, Vertrouwd and Pelayo Fernández.
Hull City have now made eight signings and spent €63.8 million in the market following their promotion to the Premier League.
