Nuamah ends 17-month goal drought with Lyon against Sparta Prague

Ernest Nuamah finally broke his barren streak. The Ghana winger netted for Olympique Lyonnais against Sparta Prague in the Champions League qualifying second leg, his first official goal in 17 months.

Nuamah, 22, made his first start since suffering a serious knee injury on April 5th against Lille, when manager Paulo Fonseca handed him a place from the kick-off. The winger didn't waste time repaying that faith: in the 20th minute, following a high press, Corentin Tolisso tried his luck from outside the box and his powerful effort was parried by Surovcik—but not far enough. Nuamah was there to finish with his left foot, placing it low and hard past the keeper.

The goal comes at a critical moment for Lyon, who sit on the brink of European elimination and desperately need results, according to L'Équipe.
