Nzonzi takes final challenge at Dunkerque

Steven Nzonzi, 37, joins Ligue 2 side Dunkerque as summer's marquee signing with the intention of playing what is likely his last season.

French midfielder Steven Nzonzi has signed with Dunkerque in what is probably the final chapter of his professional career. At 37, the summer's big-name addition to the second division brings an impressive résumé: 20 caps for France including notable involvement in the 2018 World Cup final against Croatia, along with stints across Europe's top leagues.

His pedigree at the highest level runs deep. He has 39 Champions League appearances, 195 matches in the English Premier League, 90 in La Liga, and 30 in Serie A. He notably won the 2016 Europa League with AS Roma, defeating Liverpool 3-1, as reported by L'Équipe.

Now at Dunkerque, Nzonzi is approaching this move as what looks like a farewell to professional football. With this transfer, the midfielder wants to prove he still has the quality to compete before bringing down the curtain on his career.
