Celtic boss O'Neill hospitalised for small procedure

Celtic manager Martin O'Neill is in hospital after undergoing a minor surgical procedure, the club has confirmed.

Celtic have announced that manager Martin O'Neill is currently in hospital following a «small surgical procedure», as reported by BBC Sport. The club has not disclosed specific details about the nature of the operation.

The 74-year-old is expected to be discharged within «the next day or two». Celtic have requested privacy for O'Neill and his family while thanking supporters for their messages of goodwill.

O'Neill was present in the dugout on Monday when Celtic kicked off their new Premiership season with a 1-0 home victory over Dundee. The Northern Irish manager signed a one-year deal in June after securing a league and cup double during two interim spells, marking his return to the club after two decades away.
