Obrador heads to Serie A, slipping away from Real Sociedad's grasp

Real Sociedad misses out on reinforcing their left-back position. Rafa Obrador, a lateral trained at Real Madrid's academy and currently at Benfica, is heading to Serie A after sealing a loan move to Sassuolo, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The deal includes a purchase option worth €7 million. The left-footed Balearic defender, who already has Italian experience from his spell at Torino last season, has prioritized securing guaranteed minutes and a prominent role.

The Donostia club had sounded out the player to strengthen a position generating internal debate, but with no confirmed departures in that area, the sporting director lacked the maneuver room to finalize the operation. With that uncertainty, Sassuolo pressed ahead and convinced Obrador, leaving Real Sociedad needing to stay alert in the left-back market.
