Ochoa faces weeks out with meniscus injury
Aaron Ochoa suffers a right knee meniscus injury and will miss several weeks for Málaga.
Medical tests have confirmed Málaga CF's worst fears: Aaron Ochoa has a torn external meniscus in his right knee, according to Sport. The midfielder had already been sidelined from training for several weeks following a foot injury during a preseason match, and while the club initially hoped the swelling would subside, the scans revealed a more serious issue.
Ochoa was already ruled out of the league opener against Atlético Madrid at the Metropolitano this Sunday due to a one-game suspension from his red card against Almería. Now his absence will extend considerably due to the knee injury, keeping him sidelined for the coming weeks.
Málaga's injury troubles mount
Ochoa joins Fernando Calero and Murillo on the sidelines, both unavailable at the start of the season and expected to return after the next international break. The Málaga side loses another key player just as LaLiga gets underway, adding to what has been a troubling injury list since preseason began.
