Palace's bid for Camara rejected by Monaco

Crystal Palace have had their offer for midfielder Lamine Camara rejected by Monaco, according to BBC Sport. The English club's verbal bid exceeded £35 million, which would have made the player one of the most expensive signings in the club's history.

The Senegal international, 22, joined Monaco from Metz just months ago for around €15 million. The midfielder boasts an impressive track record: he has already earned 49 caps for his country and featured at last summer's World Cup.

Palace continue strengthening their squad under new manager Pierre Sage. Beyond this failed attempt, the Eagles have already secured signings this summer including striker Evann Guessand (on loan from Aston Villa), winger Dwight McNeil (from Everton) and defender Takehiro Tomiyasu (free transfer from Arsenal).
