Pep Chavarría bids farewell to Rayo with emotional letter

The Catalan left-back departs for Chelsea after four seasons, saying goodbye to Vallecas "with a full heart".

Pep Chavarría has brought his spell at Rayo Vallecano to a close with an emotional letter posted on social media. The left-back, now officially a Chelsea player until 2031, thanked the Madrid club for allowing him to "fulfil the dream of debuting in La Liga and playing in a European final".

In his farewell, the 28-year-old Catalan emphasised the affection he received in Vallecas during his four seasons. "You've given me a love I'll never forget. Vallecas is special and no one can ever dispute that," Chavarría wrote, having made 105 appearances in La Liga for Rayo and played a key role in their journey to the Conference League final.

"I take memories with me that I'll cherish forever. The magical nights at Vallecas, a stadium that always believed and pushed, and the joy of dreaming together about something as big as a European final," he continued. Chavarría arrives in London to strengthen the left flank following Marc Cucurella's departure to Real Madrid, becoming one of the English club's major signings for the upcoming season.
