Atletico Madrid open their official season this Wednesday August 19 at the Metropolitano against Málaga, a newly promoted side. Simeone arrives with four summer signings, but integration has been complicated by their staggered arrivals.
Two registered, two to confirm
According to Mundo Deportivo, only Morten Hjulmand and Alejandro Grimaldo are officially registered in LaLiga as of August 16. The Dane had a normal preseason, while the Valencian arrived late after playing the World Cup final. The other two, Kang-In Lee and Cuti Romero, are not yet on the list:
- Kang-In Lee only joined the squad in South Korea due to military service exemption procedures, limiting his time with the team.
- Cuti Romero has just arrived and barely trained one session with his teammates.
No financial concerns
Atletico is confident in registering everyone before the match. The departures of Griezmann, Thiago Almada, Molina and Ruggeri, along with the capital increase in August, guarantee that Simeone can count on his new signings without financial limitations. Kang-In Lee and Cuti Romero are expected to be available, though their lack of preparation remains the main question mark for the opener.
