Rafa Obrador nears Sassuolo move on loan from Benfica

Rafa Obrador is close to sealing a second loan spell in Italian football. According to Italian media, the left-back will move to Sassuolo on loan from Benfica following his earlier stint at Torino, where he managed to secure regular playing time.

The former Deportivo player arrived in Lisbon in summer 2024 as part of the deal that saw Álvaro Carreras move from Benfica to Real Madrid, but adaptation proved difficult: he barely featured in the opening months and played matches with the B team. His loan move to Torino allowed him to regain form, but the Serie A side did not execute the purchase option included in the deal.

Now, the Sassuolo operation would follow the same structure: a loan with an option to buy, as reported by the Italian press. The Balearic defender impressed during his twelve months at Deportivo in the 2024-25 season.
