Rodri clears Barcelona to negotiate with City

The midfielder gives the green light for Barcelona to open talks with Manchester City, who view him as key but see his departure looming.

Rodri has given Barcelona the go-ahead to negotiate his exit from Manchester City, according to Mundo Deportivo. The Blaugrana have already started communications with the English club and are keen to move quickly.

The initial agreement exists in principle, but a deal remains distant. Barcelona holds the advantage: the midfielder's clear desire to join them. City, however, are reluctant to part with their central midfielder, whom they consider fundamental to their setup. The Catalans have leverage, though: Rodri's contract expires in 2027 and he has no intention of renewing.

The figures circulating vary. According to Cadena SER, Barcelona's opening offer stands at 45 million plus 15 in add-ons. Different Manchester sources suggest City would initially demand around 60 million pounds, approximately 70 million euros. The final price will depend on City's willingness to negotiate.
