Rongier cleared to return after nose fracture

Rennes captain Valentin Rongier is fit again and will play this Saturday against Brentford in a friendly.

Valentin Rongier is back in contention following the nose fracture he suffered on July 21st during a training session at Rennes' pre-season camp in Dinard. The Stade Rennes captain underwent surgery the following day and has completed his recovery.

According to L'Équipe, the 31-year-old midfielder will feature this Saturday, August 8th against English side Brentford in two friendlies (at 11:00 and 17:00). Manager Franck Haise confirmed that Rongier "has trained all week with a protective mask and is ready to play."

Rongier missed matches against Club Bruges and Galatasaray while recovering. Before Ligue 1 kicks off on August 23rd against PSG, he has one more friendly against Sunderland on August 15th.
