Salah heads to Trabzon in historic move

Mohamed Salah joins Trabzonspor on a two-year deal after leaving Liverpool and ending talks with Besiktas.

Mohamed Salah is travelling to Turkey this Wednesday to complete his move to Trabzonspor, according to L'Équipe. The 34-year-old Egyptian winger, who departed Liverpool without renewing his contract, had come close to signing for Besiktas just three weeks earlier, but after fruitless negotiations, Trabzon seized the opportunity.

According to Turkish media, Salah has agreed a two-year contract worth 17 million euros, plus a further 5 million in bonuses. The deal also includes 20% of revenue from shirt sales, a detail that underlines the commercial impact of the signing: 100,000 kits bearing his name have already been printed.

The move represents a landmark moment for Trabzonspor, a club more accustomed to far smaller operations. The arrival of the accomplished forward has generated huge excitement among Turkish fans, though the financial scale of the agreement raises questions about the sustainability of such a deal for the club.
