Sandro seals Las Palmas victory against Albacete in the 93rd

Las Palmas claim their first three points of Liga Hypermotion after coming from behind to beat Albacete with a late Sandro Ramírez goal.

UD Las Palmas got their first win of the Liga Hypermotion 2026-2027 season, holding off Albacete Balompié 2-1 in a first-round clash that kept everyone on their toes until the final whistle. Sandro Ramírez was the hero, scoring the deciding goal in the 93rd minute when Albacete were down to ten men.

The match kicked off with the kind of pace and chances you don't normally see in a season opener. Jesé Rodríguez broke the deadlock at 21 minutes after linking up with Fuster and Miyashiro. Albacete, already hampered by injuries—Marvin Park went down early at minute 13 and Obeng suffered a knee problem after the break—refused to lie down and kept pressing for an equaliser.

Albacete deserved more

Las Palmas had to weather the storm. Vallejo missed a clear-cut chance in the 57th minute, and then it came: a corner in the 85th minute touched by Lluis López and finished by Víctor San Bartolomé at the far post levelled things up when nobody expected it. Albacete looked like they might get something from the game.

Extra time decides it

But football is football. In added time, with Albacete reshuffling after San Bartolomé picked up an injury that left them with ten men, Sandro Ramírez came off the bench and wrapped it up with a curled effort using the outside of his boot. According to Mundo Deportivo, the goal settled a contest Albacete had fought hard in but couldn't finish. Olatz Rivera Olmedo made history as the first female referee to take charge of a Segunda División match. The game was held at the Estadio de Gran Canaria in front of 18,087 fans.
