📷 Mundo DeportivoSerrajordi sidelined for six weeks with wrist fracture
Barcelona's young defender suffered a non-displaced fracture to her right radius during Spain U-20 World Cup duty and will miss six weeks.
Barcelona faces a blow before the season even starts. Clara Serrajordi, the 18-year-old academy product considered a key piece of the first team, suffered a non-displaced fracture to the styloid process of her right radius during her concentration with Spain's U-20 squad for the World Cup. The club announced through Mundo Deportivo that the player will be sidelined for approximately six weeks.
Barça won't need to operate on Serrajordi — she'll undergo conservative treatment instead. The injury comes at a tricky moment for the Catalans, who are just beginning pre-season. The call-up had already caused friction at the club. Pere Romeu, a Barcelona executive, publicly questioned the RFEF's decision, arguing that "it disrupts our plan because we're left with a much smaller squad" and noting that Serrajordi, having already debuted with the senior team, shouldn't be in a U-20 squad.
More international absences
Aïcha Camara and Carla Julià remain with Spain at the tournament. Depending on how far the national team advances, both players could miss up to five Liga F matches and one Champions League fixture, extending Barcelona's defensive depth issues.
