Sow heads to Genoa after accepting salary cut

Swiss midfielder Djibril Sow is leaving Sevilla for Genoa, where he will sign until 2030.

Sevilla are parting ways with Djibril Sow, who has agreed to join Genoa in Serie A, according to Mundo Deportivo. The midfielder, who arrived at the Andalusian club from Eintracht Frankfurt, will play for the Italian side until 2030.

The deal is worth €4 million, matching the release clause set last summer. To facilitate his exit, Sow accepted a salary reduction during the off-season in exchange for extending his contract by another year and lowering his unilateral termination penalty—a clause he now activates to move to Italy.

Sow's departure, alongside Rafa Mir's confirmed move to Aris Thessaloniki, will free up salary space for Sevilla. Luis García Plaza will use that room to strengthen the attack with two signings. Georgian midfielder Giorgio Kochorashvili is emerging as the leading candidate to replace Sow in the centre of the park.
