Sporting negotiates Cuenca's loan deal with Como
Sporting steps up talks with Como to bring back centre-back Andrés Cuenca on loan this summer.
Sporting has been trying for months to bring back Andrés Cuenca on loan, and negotiations with Italian side Como are now progressing well. According to LA NUEVA ESPAÑA, the player's own interest in returning to Gijón has been key to unlocking talks that have dragged on since the market opened.
Cuenca joined Como this summer for just under a million euros after impressing last season at Sporting, where he recovered from injury and became a key piece under Borja Jiménez's management. Cesc Fàbregas' side saw value in the centre-back gaining experience at Gijón before moving to Italy.
Everything points to the loan deal becoming reality before the league season starts. Sporting insist nothing is sealed yet, but they're confident of a positive outcome. With Cuenca's arrival and a new striker, the Asturian club would complete their final two summer priorities.
