Tielemans impresses in Manchester United debut cameo

Youri Tielemans made his Manchester United bow in the friendly draw with PSG in Gothenburg, with the match ending 1-1. Though his outing was brief—merely 26 minutes after coming on in the second half—the club's hierarchy were impressed by what they saw.

He arrived via a £35m clause triggered in his Aston Villa contract, signing through June 2031. The Belgian replaced Mason Mount, who withdrew as a precaution following a knock to his foot.

What caught the eye was his immediate understanding with Bruno Fernandes. Their short passing combinations allowed United to ease out of trouble and progress up the pitch with composure, taking pressure off the Portuguese midfielder. Tielemans also showed defensive nous, quickly closing down PSG's Khvicha Kvaratskhelia when the winger threatened to shoot. According to BBC Sport, football director Jason Wilcox said Tielemans «has consistently been one of the most outstanding midfielders in the Premier League throughout the past seven years» and will bring «composure, creativity and leadership» to the squad.
