The England striker faces bodily harm charges following an altercation at a Soho venue last December.
Ivan Toney will appear before Westminster magistrates court on 24 September after being charged with assault causing actual bodily harm. According to the Metropolitan police, the charge relates to an incident that took place on 6 December at a nightclub on Wardour Street in central London. The striker was formally charged on 31 July, as reported by The Guardian.
Toney, 30, now plays for Saudi Pro League club Al-Ahli, and has acknowledged the charge through his spokesperson: "Ivan acknowledges the charge and although he is naturally shocked, he looks forward to being given the opportunity to clear his name in court." The Sun previously reported that the incident involved an alleged headbutt.
