Fungus threatens Celta-Osasuna clash at Balaídos

Celta has asked for the Celta-Osasuna match scheduled for Sunday at 21:30 to be postponed after a fungus has severely damaged the Balaídos pitch. The Galician club was caught off guard by the problem and believes the state of the playing surface makes it impossible to hold the match under proper conditions.

Osasuna, however, wants the game to go ahead as planned. La Liga will make the final decision in the coming hours. According to MARCA, La Liga technicians will visit Balaídos tomorrow, Wednesday 12 August, to inspect the pitch and determine whether the match can be played or must be postponed.
