Unai Núñez joins Espanyol on loan from Celta

Espanyol have confirmed the signing of Unai Núñez, a 29-year-old Basque centre-back from Celta de Vigo, according to MARCA. The move is structured as a season-long loan with purchase options embedded in the agreement.

The Periquitos' sporting department will cover just over half of the player's salary, around 55%, after wages became a key sticking point in negotiations. The deal includes an optional purchase clause and a mandatory one that would activate only if Espanyol secures European qualification.

Núñez becomes Espanyol's fourth summer signing, following arrivals of Hartman, Álex Calatrava, and Gabriel Moscardo. The Basque centre-back brings significant LaLiga experience from spells at Celta, Athletic Club, and Valencia, plus a stint in Serie A with Hellas Verona.
