Unal completes return to Getafe on free transfer

Enes Unal has completed his move back to Getafe after leaving Bournemouth on a free transfer, according to BBC Sport. The 29-year-old Turkish forward returns to the Madrid-based club following a troubled year and a half in the Premier League.

The deal carries no initial fee for the Spanish side, though Bournemouth can receive up to £1.3m in performance bonuses along with 20% of any future sale. Unal arrived at the Cherries on loan from Getafe in January 2024 before making the switch permanent for approximately £13m later that year.

During his time in England, the striker made 58 appearances and scored five goals, hampered throughout by injury problems. Bournemouth were also keen to reduce their wage bill. The club released a statement praising his contribution: «A popular figure within the squad, Unal leaves having made a positive contribution both on and off the pitch.»
