Van de Ven signs new long-term extension with Spurs

Micky van de Ven has agreed a new long-term contract extension with Tottenham, according to BBC Sport. The Dutch centre-back, who originally joined from Wolfsburg in 2023 on a deal until 2029, has now extended his stay at the north London club.

The extension comes after van de Ven had considered his future with the side, though the appointment of Roberto de Zerbi in March proved crucial to his decision. "I've always loved Spurs from the first day I stepped in here," van de Ven said. "I love the club, I love the fans and I've developed really well here. It's clear the direction the club wants to go in and I want to be part of it."

De Zerbi praised the defender as "one of the best centre-backs in Europe and an important player for us". Since arriving from the Bundesliga, van de Ven has made 96 appearances across all competitions and captained Spurs during their final six matches of 2025-26, when they narrowly avoided Premier League relegation.
