Vicario heads to Juventus on loan from Spurs

Tottenham loan Vicario to Juventus with an option to buy worth €8.6m.

Tottenham have accepted a loan offer from Juventus for goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario, as reported by BBC Sport. The 29-year-old Italian will head to Turin to seal his return to Serie A on a temporary deal that includes a non-mandatory purchase option valued at €8.6 million.

The move comes after Vicario lost his place in the Spurs line-up under manager Roberto de Zerbi. The Italian boss promoted Antonin Kinsky to the starting role last season and has now confirmed he will remain first choice going forward, leaving little room for Vicario at the club.

Back to Italy

Vicario, who holds five caps for Italy, arrived at Tottenham from Empoli in 2023 for €17.2 million and made 117 appearances for the north London side. His departure is part of a wider squad restructure at Spurs, which has also seen Cristian Romero (captain) and Djed Spence leave the club. The 'Lilywhites' have bolstered their goalkeeping department by signing Martin Dubravka on a free transfer from Burnley in July.

Juventus's move for Vicario comes after their pursuit of Aston Villa's Emiliano Martínez collapsed.
