Vinicius Jr seals new Real Madrid deal until 2032

Done deal. Vinicius Jr has signed a new six-year contract with Real Madrid running until 30 June 2032, the club announced on Thursday. The 26-year-old Brazilian winger was in the final year of his previous deal and had attracted interest from Arsenal in recent weeks.

Negotiations had reached an impasse until Real Madrid tabled a fresh offer on Wednesday that convinced the player. "Eight years at the Bernabéu are too short... Six more years, and then forever," Vinicius posted on Instagram following the announcement.

The Madrid club secured their star with high praise: "Vinicius Jr has become one of the most important players in one of the most successful periods in our history." The Brazilian has notched 128 goals in 375 appearances since arriving from Flamengo in 2018, collecting two Champions League titles, three La Liga crowns and one Copa del Rey. Arsenal will now need to look elsewhere for a left-sided forward, according to BBC Sport.
