Yaakobishvili starts his Almería adventure after Barcelona exit

The 20-year-old Hungarian goalkeeper leaves Barcelona on loan with a 50% buyout option from 2027.

Áron Yaakobishvili is now experiencing his first venture away from Barcelona. The 20-year-old Hungarian goalkeeper, who completed preseason with Hansi Flick's first team, sealed his move to Almería on loan with a buyout option for 50% of his economic rights from 2027 onwards, as reported by Fabrizio Romano.

With a Barcelona contract running until 2028, the young shot-stopper watched his new team's opening game of the 2026-27 season from the stands at UD Almería Stadium on Monday night, enjoying a commanding 3-0 victory over Eldense. In the Spanish second tier, he will reunite with Quim Junyent, his former Barcelona academy teammate, under the management of Xavier García Pimienta, a coach with La Masia roots.

The path from La Masia

Yaakobishvili is no stranger to loans. Last season he turned out for FC Andorra, also in Spain's second division, building valuable experience. This spell at Almería represents a natural step forward in his development under a coach who understands the Barcelona academy system and backs his progress.
