Barcelona's 20-year-old academy keeper is closing his move to Almería to gain playing time in the Segunda División.
Áron Yaakobishvili is wrapping up his exit to Almería, according to Mundo Deportivo. The Andalusian club will pay between 2 and 3 million euros to FC Barcelona, which will retain between 50-60% of the player's rights. The 20-year-old Hungarian goalkeeper from Barcelona's academy chose Xavi García Pimienta's project to secure playing time and build experience with a side fighting to return to La Liga after last season's relegation.
Yaakobishvili took his time weighing early offers and started preseason with Barcelona's first team after returning from his loan spell at Andorra, where he was a regular starter. In a friendly at Birmingham, he came on in the second half and saved two penalties in the shootout, though Barcelona lost 3-2.
With this departure, Barcelona will turn to Eder Aller or Iker Rodríguez to fill the third-keeper role in the senior squad, rotating both through the B team to ensure they get competitive minutes.
