Zubimendi re-emerges as Madrid target

Mikel Zubimendi is back on Real Madrid's agenda. According to TEAMTalk, the Spanish giants' manager has reportedly given the go-ahead to pursue the Basque midfielder, who currently plays for Arsenal.

This is not the first time Zubimendi's name has circled the Bernabéu. Last summer he was a target when Xabi Alonso arrived, but he ultimately joined Arsenal for €65 million. Now, with Rodri saying 'no' to Madrid, interest in the 27-year-old has resurfaced strongly in the Spanish capital.

Arsenal open to selling

According to the British outlet, Arsenal would be willing to let Zubimendi leave provided the offer exceeds the €65 million they paid a year ago. The player's representatives are already exploring a potential exit after losing playing time at the London club this season.

Madrid's conditions

However, Madrid have conditions attached. Although Mourinho is pushing for a creative midfielder, the club has made clear that any new signing will depend on departures from the current squad first. No outgoings, no incoming transfers.
