Atlético and Real: two more derby matches for reserves

The Atlético de Madrid kept their unbeaten start going by beating Real Madrid at the Metropolitano 2-1. The match was intense throughout and, as Mundo Deportivo reports, Los Blancos complained heavily about the refereeing.

In the post-match press conference, Jose Mourinho arrived with a sheet highlighting two incidents he felt should have led to red cards: Cuti Romero on Bellingham and Kang-in Lee on Valverde, claims Mundo Deportivo.

Second RFEF derby

With the main clash still lingering, the clubs’ academies are already turning the page to two more meetings. The first comes in Segunda RFEF: this Sunday September 27, Atlético C host Real Madrid C at the Ciudad Deportiva in Majadahonda. Mundo Deportivo places the kick-off at 11:30.

The big derby at the Di Stéfano

A few days later comes the headline reserve derby: Castilla vs Atlético Madrileño at the Alfredo Di Stéfano. It’s set for Friday, October 2 at 21:15, featuring teams coached by Fernando Torres and Julián López de Lerma.

As Mundo Deportivo explains, Atlético Madrileño arrive on better form in the league: fifth place with eight points (two wins and two draws). Castilla are 14th, having played one match less, with one win, one draw and one defeat. Last season, both sides were in different groups.
