Carlos Protesoni: first Alavés start after San Mamés derby

Carlos Protesoni, of Alavés, spoke this Thursday about the campaign start after making his first start last Saturday at San Mamés.

Protesoni told MARCA that “we’ve picked up quite a few points” and that “it shows in the dressing room.” He also stressed that in the derby they needed to add points and keep a clean sheet: “the point in the derby helps us a lot.”

Three-week league break

The Uruguayan said the unusually long stop—three weeks without competition—came as a surprise, even if it had been scheduled. He believes it helps the squad manage workload and return to action with rhythm.

From versatility to Garcés

He added that he’s been working hard with the physical staff and that Quique told him to seize the chance to play as a central defender. He also reacted to Facu Garcés’ injury, calling it “a shame” because it happened “right when he was close to coming back”.
