The Portuguese centre-back leaves Spanish football to sign with the Brazilian club until 2028.
Domingos Duarte is heading to Brazil. The Portuguese defender, who left Getafe after his contract expired, has been officially announced by Sao Paulo, according to MARCA. The centre-back concludes eight seasons in La Liga, during which he made 113 appearances for Madrid-based side Getafe and 102 with Granada, where he featured in the Europa League in the 2020/21 campaign.
The Portuguese international has signed a deal running until 31 July 2028 and was already training with his new club before the official announcement on Thursday. "I am very happy to arrive at São Paulo. I am grateful for the warm welcome and the messages sent to me on social media. May they be happy afternoons and evenings with our fans at Morumbi," the defender stated.
Duarte, who has earned three caps for Portugal and made his international debut in 2020 during the 7-0 win over Andorra, seeks a fresh challenge in Brazilian football after more than a decade in top European competitions.
