Córdoba keep Víctor Sánchez out with a minor niggle

Víctor Sánchez is back in the spotlight at Córdoba CF, but for a preventive rather than a serious medical reason. As reported by Sport, the attacker is not seen as a grave medical concern, even though a minor niggle was detected during the week and affected his training.

The outlet explains that the Sevilla-born forward did not train in the final session before the trip to Albacete and was ultimately left out of the final matchday squad for the Carlos Belmonte fixture. His absence was unexpected because both Iván Ania in his pre-match comments and the club’s initially released list had included him as available.

Niggle and prevention plan

The coach provided the explanation: the player (the ‘15’) was not “available”, despite not being listed among the injured. According to Sport, the reason is that the complaint he had been carrying from the previous training plan could evolve, so the club activated a preventive treatment to stop it turning into a more serious injury.

In the days ahead, the same approach is expected. Córdoba decided the striker would not travel to reduce any risk and avoid setting his recovery back. The intention is for him to be ready for the next league game.

Target: Valladolid, then Tenerife

Córdoba’s next match is against Real Valladolid at José Zorrilla. The team play there on Sunday 27 September, and the initial plan is to keep the forward “under careful watch” so he doesn’t get pushed too soon. If his progress is as expected, the club’s goal is for Víctor Sánchez to be available again for the following game after two away fixtures—against Tenerife on Monday 5 October.

So, this looks less like a prolonged layoff and more like extending his recovery window with caution. Sport also notes that the situation for another player, Salim El Jebari, is different: his chances for the Valladolid clash have strengthened because he was expected to be available from the start of the week.
