Cuti Romero's Atletico deal to be wrapped up within hours

The next few hours will be decisive for Atletico Madrid. Cristian Romero, known as Cuti, is already in the capital to undergo his medical examination and finalize his move to the Colchoneros, according to Mundo Deportivo. The Argentine centre-back, 28 years old, will be the club's fourth signing of the 2026-27 season after Tottenham decided to find him a new destination this summer.

The deal is worth around €40 million including variables, and the player will sign until 2031 with a salary of five million net. The club's intention is for him to join training this weekend to be available for next Wednesday's LaLiga opener against Málaga. Diego Pablo Simeone has played a key role in bringing the defender to the Metropolitano, having been keen on securing him since last season when Tottenham blocked his departure.
