Real Madrid and Madrid Region sign protocol for rare diseases

The Real Madrid Foundation and the Community of Madrid have signed a general protocol to drive joint initiatives aimed at improving care and quality of life for people living with rare diseases, as reported by Mundo Deportivo.

The deal was formalized at the Boardroom by Florentino Pérez and the regional Health Minister Fátima Matute. As highlighted by the Real Madrid website, the protocol will include special attention to epidermolysis bullosa dystrophica (EBD), popularly known as “butterfly skin.”

After the agreement was ratified, the same source says both leaders stressed the importance of combining institutional efforts to respond to the needs of people and families dealing with these complex conditions.

The Real Madrid site also states that, with this signature, the Foundation and the Community strengthen their commitment to developing initiatives that support those affected and help reinforce healthcare services across the region.

In short, beyond the pitch, the club is stepping further into a social and healthcare field with a collaboration framework already in place.
