Gioacchini ruptures his ACL and the Sabadell faces a tough stretch

The Sabadell will be without its main goalscorer: Nicholas Gioacchini is set to go under the knife after a confirmed rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee, according to MARCA. The club’s situation suggests this could rule him out for a large part of the rest of the season.

The goal threat is gone

The injury happened during training ahead of Sunday’s 3-1 win over Oviedo at Nova Creu Alta. After initial concerns, he underwent further checks, and this Monday the severity was confirmed.

The sporting impact is direct because Gioacchini had become the reference for the arlequinado attack. MARCA notes he was a starter in four matches and scored three goals, including the 1-0 win over Almería and a double that helped Sabadell to a 3-2 victory against Córdoba.

Replacements and the next move

Before the setback, the forward had earned trust—first to secure a place in the squad after a trial period, and then as first-choice up front. His form also earned him international recognition with the United States, for eight caps between 2020 and 2021.

In Gioacchini’s absence, Sabadell already tested solutions. Against Oviedo, Gastón Valles came in and made his debut as a starter, scoring his first goal for the club. MARCA also mentions options like Nikolay Obolskii and Yanis Rahmani.

As for the plan going forward, Sabadell could look to the market. MARCA says the club finished the summer with a free spot and can sign a player without a contract, though Ferran Costa made it clear he wants to back what he already has—“giving confidence to the players we already have”—highlighting the bench’s mood when Gastón scored.
